  • Moodle is an open-source Course Management System (CMS) that universities, community colleges, businesses, and even individual instructors can use to add web technology to their courses. Its open source and modular design allow people to develop and add extra functionalities to the software. With the capacity to support a single-teacher site as well as a 50 000-student online university portal, Moodle is flexible enough to allow for a diverse range of teaching modes. At present, more than 30 000 educational organizations around the world use Moodle to deliver online courses or supplement traditional face-to-face courses. Based on well-tried and time-proved pedagogical traditions, it gives educators full control over all settings of a course through a user-friendly and easily operated WYSIWYG HTML editor.
  • There are a few steps you need to go through before starting work with Moodle. First you need to find a web hosting service optimized to support your Moodle site. Then download the script from the Internet (http://moodle.org) and install it online. Mind that the installation procedure demands time and at least basic MySQL, PHPMyAdmin, Apache web server, Linux, etc. knowledge. It would be much easier for you to orientate towards some of the automatic installations available on the Internet through the PHP Script Installers of various web hosting companies. Once installed your Moodle can be easilly combined with any of the Moodle free themes designed by the ThemZa team.
